The world’s smallest professional theatre is in Miltenberg
On the one-and-a-half square metre stage, Lilli Chapeau and Clemens Bauer offer plays for up to 31 audience members.
The theatre, which is probably the smallest in the world, is located on Fischergasse 7 in Miltenberg, which is located in Lower Franconia, west of Würzburg. In September 2010, the tiny stage of the "Lilli Chapeau" theatre even made into the Guinness Book of World Records 2011. Only 31 visitors fit into the little 20 square metre theatre building, which is solely run by the Chapeau-Bauer couple. On the evening of the show, Clemens Bauer serves as theatre director, ticket seller, usher, caretaker, prop master, set designer, lighting director, sound and light technician, as well as bistro chef. Meanwhile Lilli Chapeau showcases truly ambitious performances on the one-and-a-half square metre stage. Examples include, “Carmen” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, which she reinvents as monologues.
