Ingolstadt State Garden Show: Inspiring adventures in nature

Attention garden fans! The huge exhibition area of the Ingolstadt Regional Garden Show in the Bavarian metropolis on the Danube offers inspiring and sustainable outdoor experiences for all the senses.

A green world of experience in the Danube metropolis of Ingolstadt: Under the motto "Inspiration Nature", the State Garden Show (LGS) will take place from 21 April to 3 October 2021. When visitors can actually visit the grounds depends on the current corona incidence values. Further information, including the current Corona measures, can be found here.

Travel comfortably with your family or friends by train to Ingolstadt station and use the Bayern-Ticket of Deutsche Bahn together. The shuttle bus will take you from the station to the East Entrance of the State Garden Show in 15 minutes. The transfer is free of charge and available every 30 minutes between 9:30 am and 6:10 pm. Best of all: on presentation of your Bayern-Ticket or other rail ticket, you will receive a two-euro discount on the admission price per adult person. Due to the pandemic and the Covid 19 measures, tickets can temporarily only be purchased online. To do so, select the "DB/ÖPNV day ticket" tariff in the online shop - the prerequisite is that you are travelling by train and can show a valid train ticket together with your LGS admission ticket at the entrance.

Beautiful views on the "Catwalk

Start your adventure in nature and sustainability at the East Entrance. From there, the Piussteg leads you directly to the grounds of the State Horticultural Show. A bridge with a far-reaching view: The steel construction is one of over 80 exhibition contributions and offers the best view over the entire open-air grounds at the highest point of the catwalk. Arriving at the end of the bridge, there are the first highlights to discover. Fancy a new and resource-saving garden design? Then the theme gardens are just the place for you. Landscape architects and landscape gardeners have given free rein to their creativity and created sustainable, imaginative garden concepts: whether it's a swimming pond with a Niagara feeling, cosy corners for the evening after work or trees as natural refrigerators - you're guaranteed to get new ideas here.

Continue north to the pavilion at the apple tree meadow - whether the pavilion is open depends largely on the Corona development in Bavaria. There you can fortify yourself with savoury or sweet snacks and treat yourself to a glass of Franconian wine. 39 apple trees have found a new home in the meadow. There was no more room for a 40th - because of the small stage. Small specialities such as "three-generation readings" are planned here. Open-air romantics can even say "I do" on the stage. The Ingolstadt registry office has already received the first enquiries for the "marriage vows in the green". Do you want to get married?

Game action and climate talk

On the play hill in the north of the State Garden Show grounds, children with and without handicaps can really let off steam. The Goals for Kids association donated the generous sum of 85,000 euros for the integrative playground. In addition to hanging and climbing equipment, there is a trampoline that can be used with wheelchairs, ringing tubular bells or funnel telephones. Meanwhile, you can find out about forward-looking climate protection projects in the themed area Stadtlabor. It is located in the southern part of the LGS and is presented by three Bavarian universities, among others. For example, students from the Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences in Triesdorf will show how the urban climate can be positively influenced by green roofs and walls or how efficient measures can be implemented to recover biodiversity.

A trip around the world followed by refreshments

Travellers should definitely stop by the six gardens of Ingolstadt's twin cities. There you can wander a little far afield and admire the green space concepts from Russia, Slovenia or Scotland. Water is your element? Then you'll get your money's worth in the western part of the LGS. The 6,100-square-metre landscaped lake, together with the water gardens and the water playground, forms an architectural unit and meets the most diverse needs. The lake invites you to linger and relax, while the play area with climbing elements, ropes and water cannons is designed for children to let off steam. Accessibility is also a priority here and some of the water features can be used by wheelchair users. While the kids are enjoying the water playground, parents can pass the time with an ice cream at the neighbouring kiosk. Or you can get directly involved in the water action yourself.

The 14 different "faces" of the Blumenhalle

The Flower Hall - the heart of the State Garden Show - is located at the West Entrance to the exhibition area. Under the direction of master florist Dieter Scheffler, various exhibitions will be staged there. Scheffler has been working for various flower shows for 30 years and his good reputation precedes him. Fourteen different themes await the visitors: For example, there are practical design examples for the "green" room, the use of glass and ceramics or a show all about the splendour and beauty of the rose. The aim of him and his team of florists, gardeners, craftsmen and artists is to amaze visitors with the beauty and diversity of the plant world and to give them ideas for their own four walls. See for yourself and treat yourself to a short journey of experience and inspiration at the Ingolstadt Regional Garden Show - 166 exhibition days await you.

Due to the current pandemic, there are visitor restrictions during the duration of the State Garden Show and online pre-registration is necessary. Up-to-date information on the safety and hygiene concept is available at any time at ingolstadt2020.de/corona. Please inform yourself before your visit and observe the regulations.
