Brewery tour through Upper Franconia

Hiking Trails

This hike will take you around multiple Franconian breweries, where you will also get to know the culture and scenic attractions in the region.

At more than 200, Upper Franconia has the highest brewery density in the world. Hiking tours from the "Bierland Oberfranken" beer association will tell you why the craft of brewing is so well understood here and how brewing itself works. Every tour stops at multiple breweries and shows how both beautiful and culturally interesting the region is. There are also beer gardens along the route, so snacks are taken care of. An overview of the best trails can be found here: brewery tours in Upper Franconia.

For those who don’t wish to walk as much, we recommend Bamberg. On the Bamberger Bergbier (mountain beer) trail you can visit four traditional breweries in the town and learn about the fundamentals of beer culture at the Franconian Brewery Museum. The hike through the town, which is a World Heritage Site, begins at the Geyerswörth underground car park, which you can reach either by taking the 901 city bus from Bahnhofsplatz square, or on foot in 20 minutes.
