Many will recognise the plane from "007 – You Only Live Twice". The gyroplane (or autogyro) is a bit like a helicopter but has a very different mechanism. Lift is driven mainly by a propeller on the tail. A round-trip in a jazzy gyroplane will lift the spirits of not just engineering enthusiasts. Take off in the Lower Franconian town of Mellrichstadt, for example, and the heart of every local Franconian will beat a step faster. Other take-off locations can also be arranged upon consultation.
