The traditional winter sports resort of Nesselwang can look back on almost 100 years of skiing history. But it's not just the slopes around the local Alpspitze mountain that attract winter sports enthusiasts to the climatic health resort on the edge of the Allgäu Alps. The snow park right next to the Alpspitzbahn Nesselwang cable car also impresses with a variety of kickers, rails and jumps.

Winter sports into the evening hours

Thanks to the modern floodlighting, winter sports fun can be enjoyed there well into the evening. Various kickers, obstacles and hurdles - such as downrails and straight boxes - await you on 34,000 square metres of snow. State-of-the-art snow-making facilities guarantee plenty of powder throughout the winter season, which is why all practice stations are perfectly groomed every day. Whether you're a beginner or a pro, everyone will find their favourite station to practise at, a chilled-out place to relax and like-minded people to chat to.

Skiing fun for the kids

Fun is also guaranteed for younger visitors: In their own kids' park with special boxes and table football waves, even the younger ones can try their hand at shredding and emulate their idols.

A real paradise for winter sports enthusiasts of all kinds

Nesselwang is also a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts outside of the snow park: Eight kilometres of fun on the slopes await skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities in the Allgäu climatic health resort. Anyone who has always wanted to try their hand at biathletics can try their hand at a taster course at the Allgäu Trend Sports Centre in Nesselwang on the cross-country ski trail and at the shooting range.

And the village has another special kind of piste adventure to offer: During a ride as a co-pilot in a snow groomer, adults and children aged ten and over can take a look behind the scenes of winter sports alongside an experienced snow groomer professional and pave the way for future descents.

Refreshments in a rustic hut

In between or afterwards, it's worth stopping off at Sepp's Stadlalm (open from mid-December). The rustic ski hut offers many snacks and tasty classics at fair prices during the day. Meat lovers should wait until the evening. From 6 pm, the Stadlalm not only transforms into an evening restaurant with service, but also into a real steakhouse insider tip.

Summer

Even after the snow season, Nesselwang remains an ideal active holiday destination. With hiking boots, trekking poles or even a llama on a lead, you can head up to the breathtaking panoramic mountains of the Allgäu foothills of the Alps. A special highlight for adrenaline junkies is the AlpspitzKICK zipline, right next to the Alpspitzbahn cable car. Here you whizz downhill at a speed of 120 km/h for about 1.2 kilometres - and that only on a wire rope.

How to get there

The Alpspitzbahn is around 1.2 kilometres and a 15-minute walk from Nesselwang train station. From there, head north-west until you reach Marktoberdorfer Straße, where you turn slightly left. Continue along Von-Lingg-Straße and then after 450 metres turn right onto Hauptstraße. After 60 metres, turn left onto An d. Riese, then turn slightly right onto Alpspitzweg, where you will reach the Alpspitzbahn cable car after 130 metres.

It is only five minutes from the Alpspitzbahn to the Stadlalm. To do this, walk from the Alpspitzbahn back towards the station in a north-easterly direction for about 140 metres along An der Riese, then take a sharp right in the opposite direction for 400 metres along An der Riese until you reach Sepp's Stadlalm (An der Riese 40).
