This spectacular route takes you through the streets of tranquil villages, lush green meadows and bubbling brooks, and will simply take your breath away.

The trail between Kaufbeuren and Bad Wörishofen is the second leg of the "Allgäu hiking trilogy" – also known as the "Wiesengänger" route (someone who walks through meadows). As you walk along this 24-kilometre trail, you'll soon understand where the route gets its name from. Not long after you set off from the old town of Kaufbeuren, not far from the monastery church, the path leads you through lush green meadows, across brooks and into cool forests. Hikers here feel as if they're part of a postcard scene from the Allgäu. And it's not just the natural surroundings that are to be admired along the way. You can also enjoy a spot of culture. About a third of the way into the route, you'll pass the Irsee monastery. Spare some time to have a look around, and take a stroll through the streets in the market town of Irsee, with its many restaurants and artist's workshops. Then recharge your batteries for the remaining stretch with a snack and a refreshing jug of beer from the monastery. The route continues along well-laid tracks through woods and fields, past several vistas, through the village of Großried and on towards Bad Wörishofen. A particular highlight: shortly before you arrive in Bad Wörishofen after the first part of the route, you can refresh your tired soles in the Kneipp nature walking pools in the river Wörthbach.  The spa town also has several other Kneipp water facilities and drinking fountains, so there are plenty of opportunities to revitalise yourself.
