The "Altmühltalweg" that runs between Treuchtlingen and Pappenheim is a trail with added convenience, as it leads from station to station. Hiking experts have especially recommended doing the walk in the late autumn and winter, as this is when the landscape along the 9-kilometre stretch is particularly spectacular. The paths lead past old wooded areas, slopes covered in juniper berries and jagged rock formations, and are mostly quite level. Pappenheim itself also certainly merits a visit and has no end of interesting sites to see, such as the Jewish Cemetery from the 12th Century, the "St. Galluskirche" church from the 9th Century, the neo-classical New Palace, the Old Palace from the Renaissance period, and Pappenheim Old Castle.
