Schlossbachklamm: Varied family hike through the Inn Valley

Fascination Gorge: The tour through the Schlossbachklamm gorge is a diverse nature experience for the whole family, especially with children from primary school age. Plan about four to five hours for the eleven-kilometre hike - a trip to the Schlossbachklamm is especially recommended in summer and autumn. In winter, however, the gorge is closed. The Regio-Ticket Werdenfels/ + Innsbruck of Deutsche Bahn is recommended for a comfortable and family-priced journey.

Fairytale gorges and the landmark of the Karwendel Railway

The starting point is Hochzirl railway station: follow the road for a few minutes on foot in the direction of the Hochzirl provincial hospital until you come across the signs for the Schlossbachklamm tour. The wide footpath leads you on a somewhat steeper ascent through the Zirl forest. From here, you walk directly to the gorge on treadable paths.

There, fairytale-like gorge landscapes and fascinating gorges await you. Hollywood was also impressed by this panorama: the film K2 was shot here for two days.

A highlight of the gorge: the lattice bridge goes directly over a waterfall. Stop for a moment and enjoy the rush and the sight of the flowing masses of water - the coolness here is especially good on warm days. Continue on to the next viewing attraction: With a bit of luck, the Karwendelbahn Mittenwald will reveal itself as you cross its own landmark, the Schlossbach Bridge, which is around 65 metres long and weighs 250 tonnes. A breathtaking view is guaranteed here. Afterwards, the path leads on the other side of the stream over wooden stairs through the forest out of the gorge, past the Leithen railway station directly into the tranquil community of Reith.

Refreshment á la Kneipp and practical bee knowledge

Walk along the Reither Waldweg to the Kneipp facility in St. Florian. Allow your feet and legs a little cooling in the oversized wooden tub before you dive into the world of bees. On the Reither bee nature trail you will learn everything worth knowing about the busy "honey suppliers" on a total of ten information boards. The big highlight is a buzzing wooden hut: Austria's first bee hotel - a glass construction allows you to relax and watch the colourful goings-on of two bee colonies. Besides honey products, beekeeping equipment is also on display. If you want to learn more, you can book a guided tour with a beekeeper at the Reith information office.

Meal with Alpine flair

After exploring the bees, continue straight along the forest road until you reach Seestraße. From here you walk along the railway line, past the Seefeld golf course to the high moor at the Wildsee lake. After an eventful day, it is now time to stop at the Platzhirsch bistro in the heart of the tranquil traditional town of Seefeld. Fortify yourself with regional and international delicacies while you gaze out over the magnificent mountain panorama from the outdoor terrace. Let the eventful excursion come to an end in a cosy atmosphere before you make your way back to Seefeld station. The station is located opposite the bistro and is just a two-minute walk away.
