Key facts of the tour
There is a region on the upper Main that is affectionately known as "God's Garden". In the middle of it all lies the tranquil town of Bad Staffelstein, nestled in a gently undulating landscape from which the 539 metre-high Staffelberg towers with its striking rocky crown. The town has been officially authorised to bear the name "Bad" since 2001. This is because the warmest and by far the most mineral-rich thermal brine in Bavaria bubbles up here. In the modern spa centre, health-conscious visitors will find the Obermain Therme with its 25 indoor and outdoor pools. The spa is not on the route of this tour.

The town also has a famous son. In 1492, when Columbus discovered America, a man was born here who is still widely known today: Adam Ries, often called Riese. Whenever someone wants to emphasise the accuracy of a calculation, the saying "... according to Adam Riese" comes into play. A bronze statue at Bad Staffelstein town hall and a whole section in the town museum commemorate him.

The main reason for this cycle tour is the beer. In Franconia, which is certainly not short of breweries, Bad Staffelstein holds a lonely record with eleven beer producers. The "Five Breweries Tour" introduces five of the breweries on an easy 18-kilometre route. If you want to round off the day with a dip in Bad Staffelstein's swimming lake, you should plan a whole day.
A cycle tour for culture lovers and connoisseurs
